Still Using your Old Materials?

The paradigm shift to online selling and learning means that existing materials need to be refreshed to make them fit for purpose (or created from the ground up).

Spring 2020 marked a fundamental change to the way that we sell and teach. Long gone is the never-previously-challenged assumption that the vast majority of selling and education is done face-to-face.

We have to accept that that nearly all selling and teaching is done online.

We’ve come to realise is that a wonderful salesperson is suddenly extremely exposed once taken out of the meeting room and forced onto a screen.

And talented, energetic teachers and educators look a bit wooden once robbed of being able to move around their classroom or lecture hall.

What can you Do?

Sure, there’s stuff we can do! Angle the webcam so we aren’t showing off our nasal hair, buy a decent microphone, improve the lighting so we can be seen clearly, learn (and keep on top of) the functions of Teams and Zoom.

But there’s no hiding from sub-standard materials – presentations and video.

Stick the presenter into the bottom corner of a screen and that previously trusty, reliable sales deck has lost all but lost its number one asset – you. Your online sales meetings risk becoming rather amateurish affairs.

And if you are teaching, do your home-made slides cut it to fully hold the attention of your students?

How Could you Look Online

This is how you could look online. But the key word here is “look”.

The presenter (you?) is not in the equation, so you cannot assess the quality of these online presentations from thumbnails alone.

Good online presentations require that you’ve covered the basics and worked out what your online audience needs from you.

Back to Basics and Your Audience
